The craze to get viral

The craze to get viral
Spread the love

By Ovundah Nyeche

And so some how while others were talking about their crossover service experience; another crossover experience went viral. Video clips and screenshots of a “Pastor” who was said to be bathing his female members on the altar was all over social media.

Booooooom articles, articles …viral, viral.

Many people thought it was real, as the name of the church was displayed and the pastor and probably his assistant were dressed in suit. However empirical evidence showed it was actually for a movie skit; and the “Pastor” apparently has a PhD in these kind of content.

Like I told someone recently, in these days, an idol is on a prowl and the name of the idol is “Fame”… popularity by all means, by any means , by every means.

This is what guides the habit of many people on line, as people churn out tons of posts or things with hope they would be the next social media sensation.

These are the days people can do anything to get 1 minute of fame. These are these days people call “indiscretion and whoredom” content and people compete with themselves to put out all forms of content with the hope of getting viral.

These days the clicks, the notifications, the numbers, the revenue are gods of a sort.

These are the days people don’t bloody care as long as it gets clicks, likes and followers and recognition. The thrill of being an accidental celebrity with possible endorsements is too enticing.

Unfortunately, it is the “Wu Wu not take it” content that will likely get viral.

A pastor for instance says don’t fornicate and teaches the word of God online…few will likely take notice, except perhaps he is popular ( for many the more popular the more likely to attach themselves to him/her). Another unknown “pastor” or whoever does a short video where he or she tells people that random, casual genital meet and greet is the way forward and boom it becomes viral, it is shared countlessly…it will get headlines, part of the content may even appear in comedy skits and it is in everybody’s face.

So apparently, the Pastor who did the bathing of his female members was no Pastor at all, but an actor…and the stuff shared was simply content which of course has achieved its aim.

In this new year, pause and think, before you share and give hot takes. #Selah

Well spoken my brother. This is exactly what happens. I have been a victim of one who needed to use me to become famous but I trust God, He never fails. People do all manner of things and post all things online for fame.

“as long as it gets clicks, likes and followers and recognition” that’s the motivation.

        Thank you for this piece.
